  • Thomas Collins, MD, FACS, MHCDS, is a board-certified transplant and hepatobiliary surgeon, and program director/surgical director of the liver transplant program at the AdventHealth Transplant Institute. As part of his practice, Dr. Collins treats liver and kidney end-organ failure, liver and pancreas tumors, benign and malignant biliary and gallbladder conditions, and duodenal tumors. He is a highly experienced open, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeon with renowned expertise in liver and kidney transplantation, liver and pancreas resection, surgery for liver, kidney and pancreatic cysts, biliary resection and reconstruction, bile duct exploration, gallbladder removal, transduodenal resection of ampullary tumors and nephrectomy. Dr. Collins received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Florida, where he achieved the rank of Chief Resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in abdominal organ transplant surgery at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Collins also holds a Master of Health Care Delivery Science degree from Dartmouth College. He has been recognized by 5280 Magazine as one of the Best Doctors in Denver. Dr. Collins has always been fascinated by, and passionate about, facilitating the transition from a disease state to restored whole-person health. Dr. Collins is part of a team-based practice with more than 50 team members that focus on continually improving as a team to provide better individual care for each patient and optimize each patient’s experience. All providers and leaders within the practice spend regular dedicated time together discussing ideas with a common goal of providing the best whole-person patient care in an optimal environment.
