G. Russell Huffman, MD, MPH is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. He is considered an expert in Shoulder and Elbow surgery by his peers nationally and internationally and holds additional subspecialty board-certification in orthopedic sports medicine. Dr. Huffman received his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine with honors and a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California in San Francisco followed by fellowships in sports, shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. He was also a visiting fellow on the shoulder and elbow service at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
A highly experienced clinician, Dr. Huffman has served as an associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania for 16 years. While at Penn he served as the Director of Penn’s Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship for more than a decade, helping train the next generation of shoulder and elbow surgeons in surgical solutions to complex shoulder and elbow problems. He has received both clinical and teaching awards during his time at Penn and has developed several surgical techniques. He has over 100 combined book chapters and peer-reviewed scientific publications and has taught, volunteered and lectured regionally, nationally and internationally.
Dr. Huffman was born and raised in Orlando and attended church and high school in the city. His clinical expertise includes arthroscopy of the shoulder and elbow, tendon and ligament reconstructions of the elbow, simple and complex shoulder stabilization surgeries and both joint replacement and reconstructive surgeries of the shoulder and elbow. He felt inspired to return to Orlando and is excited to serve the greater Central Florida community in his role with Rothman Orthopedics and Advent Health.
