Dr. Carmen Martinez Martinez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She earned her Bachelor in Science in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico. In addition, Dr. Martinez completed courses toward a Masters in Epidemiology but it cut short since she was accepted into medical school, her ultimate goal. She was accepted at Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine where she excelled and became a physician in 2007. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico, in Carolina, Puerto Rico in 2010. She had a great interest in the pediatric population which led her to seek a fellowship after residency. She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine from the University of Florida Health Science Center-Jacksonville. Upon completion in 2012, she moved to Orlando Florida and joined Florida Emergency Physicians. In addition to her clinical work, she is core faculty for the Florida Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency. She is currently the Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Associate Research Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. She has completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship Program and is a participant of the 2019 MERC at CORD Scholars Program. In 2019, she completed a master’s in Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Medicine. Her interests are pediatric emergency medicine, research, medical education and curriculum innovation. She is a clinical assistant professor for Florida State University and a volunteer faculty member for the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. She actively participates in the Florida College of Emergency Physicians in planning and lecturing at Symposium by the Sea and Advanced Practice Provider Skills Camp.
