Kachooei, Amir R, MD

  • Dr. Amir Kachooei is a board-certified orthopedic hand and wrist surgeon who specializes in all conditions of the hand, wrist, and elbow including but not limited to degenerative and traumatic conditions, including arthroplasty, arthroscopy, reconstruction, and fracture repair. He completed both medical school and orthopedic residency at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran. There he worked as an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery. Following residency, he spent over two years as a Research Fellow in Hand & Elbow Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School where his research primarily focused on elbow conditions. Dr. Kachooei pursued his clinical Ph.D. in Elbow Surgery at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands where he also mastered in Elbow Arthroscopic Surgery. He became ECFMG certified in the United States after which he completed a Clinical Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery, followed by a Clinical Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship, both at Rothman Orthopedics at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Kachooei’s research led to nine patents, more than 90 peer-reviewed articles focused on elbow surgery, as well as two books and two book chapters, and more than 100 oral and poster presentations nationally and internationally. Furthermore, he supervised more than 20 theses and served as a mentor to many researchers. In 2013, he began his role as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Archives of Bone and Joint Surgery and continues to hold this title. Dr. Kachooei is dedicated to patient care and educating medical students, residents, and other trainees. His number one goal is patient satisfaction and putting his patients first.
